During the trip, you can expect to visit the market, homes of Haitians who want prayer, and visit a orphanage and hospital. Any special gifts that anyone has to share with the Haitian people are strongly encouraged. No two trips are alike and they are loosely scheduled, to allow for changes that the Holy Spirit always offers.
The team should plan to bring gifts that the church can distribute to the poor such as shoes, cloth diapers, toiletry items, medicine, and school supplies. Any monetary gifts will also help the Haitian believers pay for feeding some of the hundreds of people over the weekend as well as other individual needs. It is also a good idea to pack in a suitcase that can be left behind for the people to use. Many people return from Jeremie with only the clothes on their backs! And that’s just fine.
The purpose of these trips is largely spiritual encouragement, though the physical impact of the team is also significant. You can expect many chances to minister to some of the poorest people in the world. You can also expect them to minister to you, as they are rich in spirit and overflowing with the love of Christ.
